Manage assessment in four steps
A system score is an assessment aid, not the decision itself. Eligibility, additional review, awarding and the final decision remain the responsibility of the scholarship-providing institution.
- Application information is submitted: The applicant shares the form information and documents requested by the programme through bursverenler.org.
- An automatic preliminary assessment may be produced: The system may generate an automatic and objective preliminary score according to the programme criteria.
- The institution reviews the application: Authorised administrators review the applicant form, documents and any other necessary information.
- The institution makes the final decision: Awarding, waiting-list decisions, additional review and other programme steps are managed through your institution’s authorised process.
Automatic preliminary assessment
Use the system score as a comparison tool
An automatic score based on form data may help with an initial comparison of applicants. It does not, by itself, verify documents, capture programme-specific circumstances or replace your institution’s full review.
Does a system score mean that an applicant has received a scholarship?
No. It is only a preliminary assessment tool. The institution makes the decision after reviewing the application form and documents.
Can an applicant with a lower system score still be assessed?
Yes. Programme conditions, documents and your institution’s assessment may lead to a different result. Review every applicant against the programme criteria.
What is the difference between the system score and the institution administrator’s score?
The system score is an automatic preliminary assessment based on form data. The institution score reflects your institution’s review of the form, documents and programme criteria.
Institution review
Review applicants against your programme criteria
Each scholarship programme has its own conditions and priorities. Review the programme description, applicant form and documents together when assessing each applicant.
- Financial need and the family or social circumstances declared in the application.
- Academic achievement, education status and other conditions requested by the programme.
- Programme-relevant information such as volunteering, social engagement, motivation, skills or future goals.
- Any eligibility, priority or selection criteria specifically defined for your programme.
Apply the same framework to all applicants. Do not base a decision on discriminatory information or information unrelated to the scholarship programme.
Documents and declarations
Compare form information and documents together
Document review helps assess the information stated in the application form. Check whether requested documents are current, legible and consistent with the applicant’s declaration.
- Review whether documents support the information declared by the applicant.
- Assess incomplete, unreadable or unclear records through the appropriate programme process.
- Request an additional document or invite the applicant to an interview where needed.
- Take action under your programme rules if information cannot be verified or is found to be inaccurate.
Scoring and decision
Record the institution score and final decision carefully
The institution administrator’s score helps document your assessment and rank applicants. Although the system score and institution score may be displayed together, the decision should not be based solely on a combined score.
- Consider the programme criteria and document review together when scoring.
- Use a consistent approach for applicants in comparable circumstances.
- Record only information needed for the assessment process in notes or justifications.
- Remember that the final responsibility for awarding, continuing or ending a scholarship belongs to the institution.
bursverenler.org provides digital infrastructure for applications, documents, preliminary assessment and tracking. It is not the scholarship-providing institution and does not make final scholarship decisions or payment commitments on an institution’s behalf.
