How Does the Scholarship System Work?

Thanks to the partnership between Yücel Cultural Foundation and foreign language schools, students entitled to receive a foreign language scholarship have part of their course fees covered by our Foundation, while the remaining part is paid by the scholarship recipient. After successfully completing each level, the Foundation continues to support you in the next level.

To qualify, you first need to complete your application during the specified period as indicated below. Then, following a review by the scholarship selection committee, a certain number of scholars will be selected based on available spots. After the selected scholars are notified, they can freely choose the language school they wish to attend and inform the Foundation.

The scholarship recipient is required to attend at least 60% of their classes. Otherwise, the recipient will be obligated to repay the scholarship funds they have received. Absences due to health issues are not included in this attendance requirement.

Who Can Apply for a Scholarship?

You do not need to be a university student to apply for the YKV Foreign Language Scholarship. All young people between the ages of 18 and 26 can apply.

Once a student is awarded the Foreign Language Scholarship, they can continue through each level of the language course as long as they meet the minimum success criteria for each level. However, the recipient cannot switch to a different language. Our foreign language scholarships are not specific to a year or a single level.

You can apply for only one foreign language. Duplicate applications will not be considered and will reduce your chances of winning.

What Is the Scholarship Amount, and How and When Is It Paid?

The Foreign Language Scholarship amount for the 2024-25 academic year is 2,800.-TL per level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). This amount is paid directly to the language school at the end of each term upon receiving an invoice.

Any fee beyond this amount requested by the school will be paid by the scholarship recipient. If the student advances to the next level with a success rate of 80% or higher, the Foundation increases the scholarship amount to 3,300.-TL, thus encouraging student success.

Can a Scholarship Recipient Choose Any Language School?

Scholarship recipients may enroll in any language school they wish within the scope of this scholarship. However, the scholarship amount paid by the Foundation is determined annually by the Foundation’s Board of Directors, and any excess is covered by the recipient.
