Half Apple Scholarships

About Scholarship

What is the Half Apple Scholarship?

The Half Apple Scholarship is a non-refundable scholarship where half of the monthly amount of 1,250 TL is provided by one donor, and the other half is covered by Yücel Cultural Foundation or another donor. The scholar continues to receive this scholarship uninterruptedly for 12 months. If the donor continues their support at the end of one year, the scholarship extends to the following year; otherwise, it terminates.

* For the 2024-25 academic year, the Yücel Cultural Foundation has filled its quota for students receiving the Half Apple Scholarship under its allocation. From this point forward, a new student can receive the Half Apple Scholarship through the combined contributions of two separate donors. Even if the Foundation’s quota is filled, two donors can collaborate to support one student.

Who Can Apply?

  • Turkish citizens enrolled in any university or higher education institution and in need of financial assistance can apply.
  • No discrimination is made based on religion, language, ethnicity, or gender.
  • Those whose scholarships were terminated due to failing to meet their obligations cannot reapply.
  • Those who earned a scholarship in the past but did not receive it due to a lack of donors can reapply in subsequent years (previous applications do not carry over as a right).
  • Students receiving scholarships from other institutions can also apply for the Half Apple Scholarship, provided they declare this in the application form.
  • No distinction is made between state, private, or foundation universities.

How Are Applications Evaluated?

  • Applications are evaluated according to criteria set by the Yücel Cultural Foundation Board of Directors.
  • The Scholarship Committee reviews the academic performance, document compliance, and details in the application form of selected scholars.
  • Applicants who provide incomplete or misleading information, or fail to upload a profile picture, will not be evaluated. Scholarships will be revoked even if donors are found for applicants who provide misleading information.

When Are Scholarship Results Announced?

  • There is no specific announcement date. You can track your results in the My Scholarship Application Results section on our website.
  • In this scholarship system, the process will only start when a donor is found by either the Yücel Cultural Foundation or the student, and the other half of the scholarship is covered by the Foundation or another donor.
  • You will remain eligible for one year after applying.

Donors

Anyone who believes in the importance of education can become a donor. There are two types of donors:

  1. Those who wish to select their scholar themselves.
  2. Those who leave the selection to the Foundation (“I’ll provide my support; let the Foundation choose the most deserving candidate”).

How Do Donors Select Scholars?

  1. “I want to choose my scholar” donors:

    • First, they pay the determined amount for the half scholarship (current amount for the respective term). This amount can be paid in cash, via mail order, or in installments using a credit card through bursverenler.org.
    • The donor declares their criteria for selecting scholars among the applicants on the website. The Foundation shares a maximum of five candidates meeting these criteria with the donor.
    • The donor selects their preferred candidate among these five.
    • Note: Donors cannot provide scholarships to first-degree relatives.
    • Personal Data: To protect students' personal data, applicants' details are not shared directly with donors. Donors can only access information about five pre-screened candidates.
  2. “I’ll provide support; let the Foundation choose” donors:

    • The donor pays the determined amount for the half scholarship.
    • First, scholars who have found a partial donor will have their scholarships completed. If no such candidates exist, the Yücel Cultural Foundation Scholarship Committee selects the most deserving candidate.
    • Scholar information and contact details are shared with the donor in accordance with personal data protection principles.

How Will I Be Informed If a Donor is Found?

  • When your status changes to “You Are Eligible for a Scholarship”, an automatic email notification will be sent to you.
  • Additionally, you will be notified via the email address provided in your application form.

What is the Commitment of the Yücel Cultural Foundation?

  • The Foundation does not guarantee a donor for students with a “Your Information is Verified” status.
  • Scholarship candidates can find their own donor and direct them to the Foundation. After evaluation, the scholarship will be provided if one donor covers half and the Foundation or another donor covers the other half.
  • It is the Foundation’s responsibility to verify the scholar’s information, monitor academic performance, and terminate the scholarship if necessary.
