This term, the MAGMA & Boğaziçi Jazz Choir Family is conducting auditions only for the Boğaziçi Youth Choir’s European Youth Choir Festival ensemble. For this season, the Boğaziçi Youth Choir does not have a regular donation system. Instead, the Choir Achievement Scholarship will be granted based on the contribution fee required from individuals accepted into the festival ensemble.
Candidates applying for the Boğaziçi Youth Choir auditions who cannot afford the festival contribution fee must apply for this scholarship to be considered for selection.
To qualify for the Choir Achievement Scholarship, an individual must first apply for the choir (specifically for the Boğaziçi Youth Choir’s touring ensemble this year) and successfully pass the audition.
There is no fixed application deadline for the Choir Achievement Scholarship. However, applications are evaluated during the choir audition periods and cover the nearest term following the selection.
Applications first undergo a preliminary review by the MAGMA & Boğaziçi Jazz Choir Scholarship Committee. If deemed suitable, they are reviewed at the first upcoming Board Meeting.
There is no requirement to be a student; individuals of all ages and backgrounds can apply. The only condition is that they must have applied for the choir auditions and been selected.
Applicants must fill out the “Talent (Arts-Sports) Scholarships” → “EDUCATION STATUS” section under “Special Talent Scholarships”. They must provide documents proving their musical or artistic achievements, such as awards, certificates, reference letters, videos, etc.. Additionally, the applicant must clearly explain why they wish to join the choir in the application form.
Applications are only accepted via the bursverenler.org website. The personal data shared will be used exclusively for evaluating the scholarship request.
The number of scholarship recipients is determined each season based on the choir’s vocal needs and the Board’s allocated quota for that term. This year, the scholarship will be awarded according to the needs of the European Youth Choir Festival ensemble.
The Choir Achievement Scholarship typically covers one year (two terms) of the applied ensemble. However, for the Boğaziçi Youth Choir’s European Youth Choir Festival ensemble, the scholarship will be limited to covering the contribution fee for the festival period. The amount may be fully or partially covered, at the discretion of the MAGMA & Boğaziçi Jazz Choir Board.
The MAGMA & Boğaziçi Jazz Choir Family Board evaluates the financial need of the applicant, their audition performance, and the choir’s requirements.
For first-time applicants, selection priority is based on audition success, the season’s repertoire, and the balance of vocal groups.
For returning choir members, evaluations prioritize previous seasons’ musical performance, attendance, consistency, and social harmony.
The final decision on scholarship approvals rests with the MAGMA & Boğaziçi Jazz Choir Board.
